PROJECT PROGRESS AND HIGHLIGHTS.
Our Shopware 6 Enterprise project is now live since February 12, 2020 and we are pleased to present the new B2B shop for DT&Shop, business unit DT&GoldArt. In October 2019 we started the project together with the DT&Shop team with the goal of replacing the previous TYPO3-based shop with a modern and future-proof solution, namely Shopware 6.
Due to the art affinity of the management, a large part of the project was aimed at creating a unique design with a focus on improved usability.
Further goals were the standardization, digitalization and automation of the sales and business processes, because a new shop requires new solutions, which we would like to emphasize here.
Besides the seven country-specific sales channels, the shop is currently available in German and English. To ensure that DT&Shop does justice to its international customer base, the first time the page is called up, the system recognizes from which country the customer is visiting the shop and suggests a corresponding sales channel. Using the country selection, the customer can also easily switch between the country-specific sales channels at any time. Each sales channel offers corresponding currencies and strike prices based on pricing rules.
For registration and login, we have implemented features that simplify the process considerably. For DT&Shop customers who do not yet have an online account, the "Quick Registration" offers a possibility to create an account quickly and easily using a reduced form. Using the "existing customer login", customers can also register with their customer number instead of their e-mail address. The login is also quickly accessible via a small widget in the header area.
In order to be able to offer excellent service in the new shop as well, a plugin ensures that each customer is assigned a contact person with a picture and contact details. This means that each customer can view his or her personal contact person via his or her own account area and can also contact him or her directly by phone or e-mail if he or she needs further advice.
Using the Shopware 6 API, DT&Shop can easily import article and customer data into Shopware, so that the shop corresponds to the current data status from the ERP system. DT&Shop has also set up a web service that exports customer data and orders from the shop. Appropriate plug-ins were developed for the extensive assortment with the most diverse article links. For example, a plugin for successor articles, through which articles that can no longer be ordered can still be found and linked to their successor types. In this way, the customer can quickly and easily find the successor to an obsolete article.
A special highlight at the end: In cooperation with the DT&Shop IT project team, a suitable solution for the checkout process was developed. The data of the entire shopping cart, including vouchers and delivery and billing address, is transferred to an interface from DT&Shop, in order to receive a complete validation, all corrections and up-to-the-minute prices for each order. In addition, the availability of the article and also characteristics, such as that it is a dangerous goods article, are displayed until the order is completed.
We are looking forward to the further work on the shop, for which the next features are already being developed.
