When the standard search in Shopware reaches its limits and can no longer fulfil the growing requirements, it's time to think about another solution. As an add-on to the standard search, users have the option of using the Advanced Search in Shopware 6 from the Shopware Evolve plan onwards. It can be easily installed as an extension. The counterpart to Advanced Search in Shopware 5 was the Shopware intelligent search, which is still available in the Shopware Store for Shopware 5 shops.

Shopware Advanced Search, also known as Enterprise Search, is based on OpenSearch (formerly Elasticsearch). In addition to a powerful product search, it also offers the option of customising the search to suit your needs. It is also possible to search by manufacturer and category. The simple administration module enables the search to be configured quickly and easily.

Shopware Advanced Search is suitable for online retailers who require an advanced search function for their e-commerce websites. Compared to the standard search, it offers a significant upgrade. Full text and partial text searches enable faster results, while synonyms and fuzzy searches increase the hit rate. The automatic completion of search terms speeds up the search and increases user-friendliness. Facet filters enable targeted refinement of the search by category, price, brand and more. A relevance rating sorts the results according to importance, and the search also supports multiple languages for international e-commerce websites. Another positive aspect is that Advanced Search already has a marketing function: Boost articles through rules. It is also available virtually free of charge from the Shopware Evolve plan, which makes it an attractive option.

However, there are also some weaknesses to consider. For example, the search algorithm is not customisable, and indexing or mapping is only carried out using the available data fields in Shopware. As a result, the search is generally not as flexible and may require considerable development effort to customise it to the customer's needs. This can lead to high costs and additional time expenditure.
