When an established online shop wants to take the next step, a technical update is often not enough. For the relaunch of TeeGschwendner, elio therefore opted for a complete rebuild using Shopware 6.7.
The result: a modern, future-proof platform that successfully went live on 14 July 2026.
The key selling point: a foundation that grows with you rather than holding you back
Online shops that have grown over the years often carry an invisible burden: Customisations, third-party plugins and bespoke solutions which, whilst they work, make every update more time-consuming, riskier and more expensive. Instead of building on the existing foundation, elio completely rebuilt TeeGschwendner’s shop on Shopware 6.7 , following the principle of a ‘relaunch without technical legacy issues’.
The concrete benefit for the client: an architecture that remains as close as possible to the Shopware standard, is therefore update-proof and grows with the requirements of tomorrow – without every release turning into a project in its own right. For a company looking to expand its digital channel in the long term, this is the crucial difference between a shop that accumulates dead weight and a platform that scales.
About TeeGschwendner
TeeGschwendner is one of the leading specialist tea retailers in the German-speaking world and is synonymous with premium tea in a wide variety of types – from black and green tea to matcha, herbal and fruit teas, as well as accessories. A key feature is the combination of a Germany-wide network of specialist shops and a digital shopping experience that brings together advice, personalisation and local availability.
The solution: one platform, many experiences
elio has set up the new shop in such a way that technical excellence and customer experience work hand in hand. Among other things, the following features were implemented:
- Payback integration – customers can collect and redeem their points directly in the shop.
- AI tea advisor – personalised recommendations make it easy to find the right tea.
- Personalised tea quiz – bespoke blends with a simple reorder function.
- Reserve & Collect – linking the online shop and specialist shops via an integrated store locator.
- Organic label labelling – clear, automatic labelling in product lists and on product detail pages.
- Seamless system integration – clean interfaces to the product database,
the ERP system and specialist services for vouchers, app checkout and
store information.
Reliable implementation right through to go-live
To ensure a smooth transition, elio carried out several full test migrations prior to the transfer of production data. This enabled customer, order and voucher data to be transferred to the new shop in a controlled and reliable manner. Following the successful go-live, the platform continues to be continuously maintained and specifically enhanced with new features.

What this means for B2B decision-makers
The TeeGschwendner case serves as a prime example of what matters in a future-proof e-commerce project – and is therefore also relevant for B2B companies with complex system landscapes:
- Update reliability rather than a maintenance backlog: adherence to the standard reduces the costs and risks associated with future releases.
- Consolidation rather than siloed solutions: the shop, product data, ERP and specialist services are seamlessly integrated via clean interfaces.
- Foundation for growth included: The new architecture is deliberately designed so that a B2B shop with its own product range and customer group pricing can be built upon it.
Are you planning a relaunch or looking to get started with digital B2B sales?
Whether it’s migration, a system re-architecting or B2B expansion: elio brings retail, systems and technology into harmony – with an architecture that’s update-proof and scales with your business.
